Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on the relationships among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; targets current problems and symptoms; and focuses on changing patterns of behaviors, thoughts, and feelings that lead to difficulties in functioning.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
CPT is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy that helps patients learn how to modify and challenge unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy
This therapy teaches individuals to gradually approach trauma-related memories, feelings, and situations.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR uses eye movements, similar to what occurs during REM sleep, to help facilitate information processing and reduce the effects of trauma and the accompanying negative beliefs.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is an approach based on the belief that you aren’t separated from your internal “family” — inner parts that need to be integrated for wholeness.
Mindfulness-Based Techniques
Strategies such as distraction, deep breathing, mindfulness, and behavior activation can help manage symptoms and reoccurrence.
